Understanding the Andalusian horse market place ...

How Much Do Andalusians Cost?

What is your budget for an Andalusian? Can you sell a few horses? Mortgage that house? Get a relative to go in with you?

If you have...

Under $5,000? Better go elsewhere. Possibly a crossbred would suit you. Or that rare rescue horse (once in a lifetime chance).

$5,000 to $10,000. Lots of crossbreds, half breds, Spanish Portuguese, newborns, in-utero's, and weanlings. The occasional poorer quality yearling, or older horse. Geldings.

$10,000? Now you're talking. Go look at weanlings and yearlings. Possibly a gelding that is trained.

Over 10 up to 15K? You could get a really nice weanling (top of the line) or average two to three-year-old. A nice gelding.

15K to 20K? Closer to those breeding age fillies. You could find something decent to start with that is already pregnant or ready to breed. You will get a return on your investment more quickly.

Over 20K? The sky's the limit. Look for young colts, bred 3 or 4-year-old mares. The show horse gelding. The black filly.

25K to 30K? A nice broodmare or decent stallion already started under saddle.

50K. An imported grown stallion or mare, a domestic horse with a show record, champion parents, etc. High school training (tricks) included.

Don't believe me? Go to www.dreamhorse.com or www.agdirect.com and do your own research. I've been watching the ads for years.
